The XLV750R was an extraordinarily ambitious motorcycle for Honda. First shown in prototype form at the Paris Motor Show in 1982, it was developed primarily for continental Europe and was never officially offered to the UK market.

At its heart is Honda's distinctive 749cc 45-degree V-twin, driving through a five-speed gearbox and shaft final drive. It combined serious long-distance ability with the high riding position, ground clearance and imposing proportions that would later become synonymous with the big adventure-bike category.
