Presented in superb condition and fitted with the fantastic 32-litre Paris Dakar fuel tank and single seat, this is an R80 G/S with enormous presence and period appeal.

BMW's original R80 G/S was a landmark motorcycle. The initials stood for Gelände/Straße – off-road/road – and its combination of an 800cc boxer engine, shaft drive, long-travel suspension and relatively lightweight chassis established a formula that would eventually develop into BMW's hugely successful GS family.

The Paris Dakar-style 32-litre tank and single-seat arrangement suit the bike perfectly and give it the unmistakable appearance associated with BMW's early rally successes.

This isn't a classic that disappears into the background. Park it outside any bikers' café and it is almost guaranteed to draw a crowd.
